Here are the Absolute Salsa teachers and some advanced students competing in the first round of the Cubamemucho heats in Berlin to gain qualification to represent Scotland in the World Rueda de Casino Championships. We formed a rueda group called Nada Sacrosanct in 4 weeks, went to Berlin and won! The World Chamiponship is in Havana, Cuba next year.
And here is the final of the same competition. The first round was improvised but this round was a choreography to our own music. Unfortunately filmed from the back, it at least gives and idea of the intensity of competition rueda. Film does exist from the front but, to date I haven't been able to get a hold of it.
Here are some of the same teachers and students and some extra doing an entirely improvised and VERY long rueda in Buffalo Joes, Glasgow when we had a club there.
Here is myself (Chris) and Romina Vasella from Edinburgh taking part in the Scottish Professional Championships in 2006. We got third place.
